Connect your agent to Vinyl Slop
With the Claude Code plugin (recommended)
The plugin is in the claude-plugin folder of the Vinyl Slop files. Add it as a marketplace and install it, then start a new session:
/plugin marketplace add /path/to/vinyl/claude-plugin /plugin install vinylslop@vinylslop
Open Agent, switch on Enable Agent Connections, click Copy and paste the line to Claude Code. It pairs for you; later sessions need no token.
Without the plugin
Vinyl Slop runs entirely in your browser. To let an AI agent on this computer read and edit your design, a small program called the connector sits between the two. It only listens on 127.0.0.1 (ports 8797–8800) and only talks to the Vinyl Slop page you pair it with.
The agent can inspect and edit the design and preview a cut. It cannot send anything to your cutter — that stays a button you press in the Cutter dialog.
1. Install Node
You need Node 18 or newer. Check with node -v; if it is missing, install it from nodejs.org.
2. Get the connector
Download vinylslop-connector.mjs. It has no dependencies.
3. Pair this tab
In Vinyl Slop open Agent, tick Enable Agent Connections, and copy the line. It contains a one-time token and your page's origin.
4. Add it to your agent as an MCP server
Use the command, origin and token from the line. For example, with Claude Code:
claude mcp add vinylslop -e VINYLSLOP_TOKEN=TOKEN -- node /path/to/vinylslop-connector.mjs --origin ORIGIN
Any MCP client that can launch a stdio server works the same way. After the first pairing a secret is stored in ~/.vinylslop, so later sessions reconnect without a new token.
No MCP? Use the command line
node vinylslop-connector.mjs --origin ORIGIN status
node vinylslop-connector.mjs --origin ORIGIN tools
node vinylslop-connector.mjs --origin ORIGIN call scene.describe
node vinylslop-connector.mjs --origin ORIGIN call shape.add '{"shape":"star","w":60,"h":60}'
Writing your own bridge
The full protocol is at agent/protocol.md — enough to write a bridge in any language. Usage guidance for agents is in agent/guide.md.
Troubleshooting
- Blocked by your browser — allow local network access for this site in the browser's site settings.
- Agent needs an update — download the connector again.
- Connected in another tab — only one tab can be paired at a time.
